Hisham Dawoud
Hisham Dawoud is an independent designer specializing in evening wear with a focus on ball gowns. Dubbed the “Ballgown boy” during an early internship, the name now speaks of a tireless pursuit of “the perfect gown”. His research has led him to develop an original technique to bind bands of horsehair braid, a nylon trim often used for support in evening wear, into a versatile textile that introduces an innovative reimagining of the petticoat. Based in New York since 2014, his aim is the constant innovation and rethinking of the inner structures and underpinnings of traditional evening wear as well as their applications in, and impact on, society.
